The survey includes evaluation of the ecological features present, as well as scoping for notable species or habitats, identification of potential restraints to proposed development schemes and recommendations where further surveys and mitigation are required.
Such examples include:
- Proposals to significantly modify or demolish a building – a bat survey will most likely be required
- Development sites with potential bat foraging habitat - further bat activity surveys will be required
- Works within close proximity to a pond – an assessment for great crested newts may be needed
- Development site on rough grassland – a reptile survey may be required
